Three lifelong friends, frustrated by a common problem when cooking, came up with an innovative product that simplify everyday tasks in the kitchen. When Trivae, an American Start-Up, approached us with the idea for a unique kitchen trivet that could serve multiple purposes, we were excited to take on the challenge! This was up our street, for sure! Working closely with Trivae, our team of experts in kitchen product development helped bring their vision for a novel multi-purpose kitchen gadget to life.
The Outcome
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Trivae launched on Amazon across the US and with nearly 1000 exceptional reviews, it is clear that their versatile kitchen tool is a hit with customers. The Trivae’s unique design and features have made it a standout product in the kitchen product development market, and it has gained a loyal following of customers who appreciate its innovation and convenience.
The Story
Trivae’s story begins with three lifelong friends – Svetlana, Ruslana, and Rebecca – who shared a passion for food and a desire to simplify everyday kitchen tasks. While cooking together, they often found themselves struggling with where to put their pan lids when adding ingredients or stirring their culinary creations, leading to frustration and burnt fingers. They scoured the internet for a solution but couldn’t find what they were looking for. That’s when they decided to take matters into their own hands and design a multi-functional kitchen tool that could solve their problem.
Hats off to these three friends for giving up lucrative jobs for the freedom and excitement of being masters of their own destiny!
Despite Ruslana’s claim that she didn’t have a creative bone in her body, she actually came up with the original idea! uslana’s art-trained engineer husband drew the first Trivae, which served as the foundation for the product’s design. The three friends went on to refine the design and conduct research to ensure that the final product would be unique, innovative, and make cooking easier and more enjoyable for everyone.
When former financial and hedge fund analysts Svetlana and Rebecca to act on the new idea, they knew they needed expert help to make it a reality. That’s where our team of kitchen product development specialists came in, working closely with them to understand the idea, the needs of the target market and what sells well in the kitchenware market. Despite the challenge of a long-distance relationship (the founders are based in the US), they knew they needed the right design company with the skills to take their idea from concept to commercial success. Together, we navigated a few bumps in the road and brought the Trivae to life!

The Trivae is a versatile kitchen tool that can be used as a trivet, a strainer, and a serving stand. Its unique design allows it to be used in a variety of ways, and this created some interesting design challenges. We didn’t want to develop a product that was too much of a compromise and ended up doing several tasks reasonably well. The team pulled out all the stops to ensure that Trivae is user friendly and highly functional in any of its different “modes”. The Trivae is made from high-quality, food-grade silicone that is heat-resistant up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit – no mean feat! It is also dishwasher safe and easy to clean.
One of the most unique features of the Trivae is its “flip” design, which allows it to be used as a trivet or a strainer. When the Trivae is in its “trivet” position, it can support heavy pots and pans without being damaged. When it is in its “strainer” position, it can be used to strain pasta, vegetables, and more. The Trivae can also be used as a serving stand, making it the perfect tool for entertaining. The design of the mechanism to be strong enough whilst easier activated also caused the design team a few headaches!
Another unique feature of the Trivae is its “grab and lift” design, which allows it to be easily moved and lifted without burning your fingers. The Trivae’s sleek, modern design and variety of colours make it a stylish addition to any kitchen, while its compact size and easy storage make it a practical choice for small kitchens or those with limited counter space.
