The Story

Zero Friction, a leading manufacturer of golf equipment and accessories, approached our design team to develop a revolutionary golf bag that incorporates smart follow technology. This golf product design project was an exciting challenge for our team, who have extensive experience in designing high-quality and innovative sports equipment. The fact that we have both textiles and hard goods prototyping on-site was of huge appeal to John and Frank from Zero Friction.

Our team began the project by conducting extensive research to identify the needs and preferences of golfers. We analysed the latest trends in golf product design and technology, and identified the potential opportunities for innovation in the golf bag market. Based on our research, we developed a design concept for a golf bag that could follow the golfer on the course using smart technology.

Proof of concept prototyping was next to prove the basic core functionality before any extensive design work was undertaken. Form follows function and Minimum Viable Product were both key mantras for this project!

Once the concept was proven, our design team took a hands-on approach to product development, designing and prototyping the Wheel Pro-Stride in-house. We used advanced computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed 3D models of the bag and then produced high-fidelity prototypes using our state-of-the-art 3D printing and prototyping machines.

Our team tested the prototypes extensively to ensure that the design was both functional and durable. We worked closely with Zero Friction to fine-tune the design and incorporate their branding and colour scheme into the final product.

To ensure the success of the Wheel Pro-Stride, D2M’s team of designers and engineers worked on every aspect of the product. We started with the initial concept and created a 3D model of the design, which we then refined through multiple iterations based on user testing and feedback.

“It is like having your own private caddy that can essentially travel anywhere in the world with you,” said Zero Friction Founder and President John Iacono. “Everything you need is included on the STRIDE bag, and it even follows you around the golf course.”

The final design of the Wheel Pro-Stride was a sleek, stylish golf bag that offered unrivalled convenience and performance for golfers. Its Smart Follow technology is designed to make playing golf more enjoyable, enabling golfers to focus on their game while their bag follows them around the course.
