The Grip Film Applicator is a handheld pallet wrapping tool designed to replace slow, manual film application with a faster, more controlled process. The client came to D2M to develop a new version of the product with improved ergonomics and ease of use. D2M developed the concept from an agreed brief through to a design ready for engineering.
The Story
Wrapping a pallet by hand is slow and awkward. The operator has to hold and peel out a long roll of film while walking around the load, managing tension and coverage at the same time. The brief was to solve that with a tool that made the process quicker, more consistent and less physically demanding.
D2M developed a new version of the applicator built around a rotating film mechanism, allowing the operator to wrap continuously rather than pulling and controlling loose film by hand. The design was refined for ergonomics throughout, improving grip, control and ease of use during a repetitive, physically demanding task.
The Outcome
The Grip Film Applicator successfully made it to market and is now part of Grip Systems' product range.
