Every client and product development journey is unique. Each one provides our team with different challenges, requirements and goals. This page is less about our process and more about what makes D2M different. It’s about how we approach new product development, the way we collaborate with our clients and why we work the way we do. The team, the relationships we build with clients and our wider network of experts, is at the heart of everything D2M has done for over 15 years.

What we believe
Starting with the end in mind is crucial. Technical feasibility, cost, manufacturing constraints, and practical realities should shape the development process of a new product from the very first conversation. We believe this is how to minimise our client's risk, and increase their chance of launching a successful product.

Who's in the room
Designer-led projects are smoother. Our clients have direct access to the lead designer on their project, who knows every detail about the design. This keeps communication simple, prevents key information from being lost and facilitates a truly collaborative design process. Where specialised expertise is required, we draw on our network of third party suppliers.

Where we've been
For over fifteen years, our team has developed hardgoods and textile products across a wide range of sectors, including mother and baby, household, sport and outdoors, industrial, health and more. No two products are ever the same and as a result, our team has a breadth of experience and knowledge that can be applied to each new project.
Where we are
Cheltenham is home. It's where the team work day-to-day in the design studio and prototyping workshops. The Cotswolds' pace and space have shaped how we like to run projects: without rush, without noise, but with plenty of space for innovation and collaboration. We've kept it that way deliberately.
We also have a meeting space in London, not as a second office but as a way to stay properly connected to the clients and partners based there. It means a trip to Cheltenham is never the only option, and convenience doesn't come at the cost of the studio culture we've built.
What we offer
Our services cover the full process of the new product development journey: from early research and strategy, through concept and detailed design, to prototyping, manufacturing support and, where needed, branding and packaging. Clients rarely need all of it at once. Some come to us for a single stage, others for the whole journey, and we shape our involvement around what the project requires, ensuring our work always adds value where it's needed.
Who we work with
We work with businesses of every size, from start-up's to established SMEs looking to develop and launch innovative new products, or redesign existing products they're already selling. With early startups, we understand the constraints: limited budget, limited time, and a need to move fast without compromising on the fundamentals. With SMEs, the priority is often different: fitting new product development into an existing structure with minimum disruption and synergy with an existing brand. We adjust our approach to meet the needs of each client, and prioritise developing a transparent and collaborative relationship.
