SwitchUp is a versatile gym bag designed to adapt to different activities and travel needs. D2M worked with the start-up founder from early concept through prototyping and manufacturing sourcing, applying our expertise in textile product design to deliver a commercially viable, production-ready product.
The Story
The brief called for a bag that could genuinely transform in use, not just in appearance. D2M worked closely with the founder to develop and refine the design through multiple prototypes, testing functionality at each stage before progressing. Alongside the design process, the team identified and briefed a manufacturing partner early, ensuring the commercial viability of the product was considered throughout rather than treated as an afterthought.
The final product incorporated a detachable sling bag, a water bottle holder and a hidden passport pocket, and was made from durable, water-resistant materials suited to both gym and travel use.
The Outcome
ShapeShifter launched on Kickstarter and reached 800% of its funding target. The founder subsequently paused the campaign to incorporate feedback received during the launch before relaunching with a revised design, which is currently in production.
