A patented chai brewing appliance, designed from concept to high-fidelity prototype

Dostea is a kitchen appliance designed to brew traditional chai without the spillage and attention that conventional methods require. D2M worked with the founding team from early concept through industrial design and patented mechanism development, delivering a product ready for market launch.

The Story

The idea came from a shared frustration. Founders Vinit, Mitul and Fazal were chai drinkers who had experienced one too many boil-overs and set out to solve the problem properly. They approached D2M with a clear vision: a machine that could replicate the authentic chai brewing process, water, milk and tea leaves brewed together, without the mess or the need for constant supervision.

The design process was intensive and collaborative. Beyond the functional brief, the product needed to carry the warmth of a familiar ritual, so the team worked carefully on the user experience alongside the engineering. The result was a spill-proof brewing mechanism, a dishwasher-safe carafe, a built-in strainer and controls that allow the user to adjust strength and milkiness to their preference. The core mechanism is patented.
