Ventz
Wearable ventilation system designed for motorcyclists in hot weather.
Ventz is a wearable ventilation system designed to stop motorcyclists overheating in protective leather clothing during hot weather. The idea came from watching a fellow rider's unzipped jacket flap open and obstruct their vision, a safety risk as much as a comfort one. D2M worked with the concept from early prototype through to a manufactured product.
The Story
The initial presentation prototype was built from two components, one in polypropylene and one in TPU plastic. Early testing surfaced practical problems: the components were awkward to assemble and disassemble, and the TPU part struggled to stay securely attached. D2M resolved this through CAD refinement, extending the length of the plastic pads to give a more secure fit.
That work fed into a full manufacturing specification covering materials, hardness and finish, taking the product from prototype to a design ready for production.
The Outcome
Ventz sold out its initial production run of 12,000 units on pre-orders alone. The product is sold online and through retailers including Fowlers, and has drawn interest from riders internationally, including in Germany, South Africa, the US and Australia.
