Omnio Stroller
Ultra-compact pushchair that folds down to carry-on size.
Omnio is a pushchair engineered to fold down small enough to be carried as a rucksack, with dimensions compliant with IATA aircraft hand luggage regulations. The brief was to combine the convenience of a genuinely portable pushchair with the performance of a full-size stroller. D2M developed the product from concept through to full-scale manufacture.
The Story
Reducing a pushchair to carry-on size without compromising how it performs is a difficult balance to strike. D2M worked through the engineering required to cut down the size and weight of the frame while keeping the ride quality and manoeuvrability parents expect from a full-size stroller.
Central to the solution was a patented wheel design combining lateral rollers with a standard rolling wheel, improving manoeuvrability across different terrain and in tight spaces. The folding mechanism itself was also developed to patent standard, resolving how the frame could compress into a compact, rucksack-carryable form without sacrificing structural integrity.

The Outcome
Omnio secured over 20,000 pre-orders from international distributors and raised over £600,000 through fundraising, going on to enter full-scale manufacturing and sell in eight countries. The product received multiple national and international design awards.
