Battery-powered shoe polisher taken from proof-of-concept to Kickstarter launch and Amazon listing.
Equerry is a handheld electric shoe polisher designed for quick, clean results without the mess of traditional shoe care. Two brothers came to D2M after a previous design company had produced visuals without addressing how the product would actually work. D2M started from first principles.
The Story
Before any detailed design work began, D2M built a proof-of-concept prototype to test the fundamentals: motor torque, power requirement and battery life. Getting those right determined everything that followed. There was no value in progressing to detailed CAD with unresolved technical questions, and the proof-of-concept stage settled them quickly.
With the core mechanics confirmed, the project moved into detailed 3D CAD, high-fidelity prototyping and the campaign assets needed for Kickstarter. The final product is lightweight, rechargeable and compact, with a removable head that can be washed and reattached.
The Outcome
Equerry ran a successful Kickstarter campaign before securing a listing on Amazon.
