Cozyglo
Children's night lights designed around three characters, developed from concept to production for Cozyglo.
Cozyglo came to D2M with a brief to develop a range of children's night lights that combined a comforting form with practical functionality. The brief called for a dimmer, clock, stopwatch, light alarm and thermometer, housed within character-led designs aimed at the nursery and baby market.
The Story
The three characters, Papa Penguin, Colonel Comfort and Beatrice the Rescue Dog, each needed to work as appealing physical objects while containing a meaningful set of electronic features. Getting the light quality right was central to the brief: the product needed to emit a warm, even glow rather than a directed light source.
D2M developed the designs through CAD and multiple rounds of prototyping, working with an electronics partner to integrate the required functionality. Light guides, a diffusion lens and careful positioning of the internal components were all used to achieve the all-round glow the brief required.
Cozyglo ran a successful crowdfunding campaign on the French platform born.com in 2015, bringing all three characters to production within a year of the concept being formed. The range is now available through Amazon, Argos and Jojo Maman Bebe.
