The Outcome
Delphi Dog launched successfully via its own website in early 2025, using direct‑to‑consumer sales to test the market before wider expansion. The product has already won Best Canine Drying Product 2025 and Rising Stars in Pet Clothing Solutions – Wales at the LuxLife Pet Products & Services Awards. The Story
Delphi Dog is a pet brand inspired by its namesake, Delphi — a Great Dane who loves exploring the Mid‑Wales countryside. Founder Georgia wanted to solve a familiar problem for dog owners: wet, muddy paws leaving trails through the home even after a towel dry. Her solution was a functional, comfortable, and stylish drying sock that dogs could wear indoors after a walk without restricting their movement, a perfect candidate for a full pet product manufacturing journey.
Georgia’s original home‑made prototype needed to be developed into a professional product ready for large‑scale pet product manufacturing. The biggest technical challenge was creating a sizing system that would suit a wide range of dog breeds, from medium to giant. The chosen materials also needed to be high‑quality, washable, durable and comfortable, while meeting the functional requirements of effective drying and odour reduction.
D2M’s Pet Product Manufacturing Approach
D2M was involved from concept through to production, managing every stage of the pet product manufacturing process. Led by our Senior Textile Developer, Helen Rayner, we:
- Developed the initial idea into a professional, manufacturable product design.
- Produced and tested multiple prototypes on Delphi and a range of other dogs.
- Sourced specialist materials — a bamboo cotton lining for absorbency, antibacterial benefits, and softness, paired with a breathable, water‑resistant outer layer to contain dirt and moisture.
- Resolved complex sizing challenges to create a clear, scalable size range for manufacturing.
- Created a complete manufacturing specification.
- Identified and secured a trusted production partner.
- Oversaw pre‑production, final sampling, and the first manufacturing run.
